Create an Actual Project Plan

2-plan Desktop allows you to create a project plan in two ways.

 

Create a Project Plan using the Welcome perspective

On starting the application for the first time, you will have an empty workspace and the ‘Welcome' perspective is shown by default.

To directly create a project plan through the Welcome perspective:

  • Click the link "Create” (for the type of project you want to create).
  • Follow the steps of the wizard

For Manual Projects:

  • Specify the project name
  • Specify the project start date
  • Click Finish to create a manual project.

For Effort-Driven Projects:

  • Specify the project name
  • Specify the project start date
  • Select ‘Enable Teams’ and ‘Enable Roles’ if you want to work with teams/ roles
  • Click Finish to create an effort driven project.

For Fixed-Duration Projects:

  • Specify the project name
  • Specify the project start date
  • Select ‘Enable Teams’ and ‘Enable Roles’ if you want to work with teams/ roles
  • Click Finish to create a fixed duration project.
You can visit the Welcome view any time to create new project plans with different project types.

 

Create a Project Plan using the System Menu

Another way in which you can create a project is through the System menu.

To create a project through the System menu:

  • Click ‘System’ menu item on the menu bar.
  • Click ‘New’ and choose project type – Manual or Effort Driven or Fixed duration
  • Follow the steps of the wizard

 

Saving a Project/Changes in Workspace

To save a project:

  • Click ‘System’ menu item on the menu bar.
  • Click ‘Save Project’ to save only the active project.
  • Click ‘Save All’ to choose all the projects and other changes that you have made in the workspace.
